The Verisign NameStudio API Service is a smart API-based domain name suggestion solution. The Service is designed to help registrars, web hosting service companies, and other businesses that offer domain name search and registration services deliver relevant domain name suggestions to their end-user customers.

The Verisign NameStudio API Service is an API-based domain name suggestion solution. This type of solution is also referred to as a domain name spinner and domain name generator in the domain industry.

Yes. The NameStudio API /suggest 3.0 endpoint can understand prompts or descriptions and respond with relevant domain name suggestions. For example, the NameStudio API /suggest 3.0 endpoint will generate domain name suggestions from a prompt such as, "Give me domain names for my food delivery service in San Francisco." The NameStudio API /suggest 3.0 endpoint may generate better domain name suggestions when more context is provided in the search.

The Verisign NameStudio API Service provides second-level and top-level domain name suggestions. For example, if someone searches for a domain name with a specific TLD and the exact match is not available, the Service will use various algorithms and data sources to generate a list of alternative second-level domain names in one or more TLDs*.

* NameStudio API provides second-level domain name suggestions in Verisign-operated TLDs and non-Verisign-operated TLDs. Availability checks are currently offered in Verisign-operated TLDs and several other TLDs. Availability checks are subject to change and do not reflect domain names that may be unavailable due to registry operator policies.

Yes. Customers have access to NameStudio API reports. They can use this information to analyze their domain name search platform performance and to inform optimization decisions about their search tools.

* The domain name suggestions provided by the Online Presence Endpoint in NameStudio API are solely based on input parameters provided by the NameStudio API customer.

** Availability checks are currently offered in Verisign-operated TLDs and several other TLDs. Availability checks in non-Verisign-operated TLDs are subject to change.

The Verisign NameStudio API Service can be easily used in your domain name search platform. When an end user conducts a search using a keyword, prompt, or a TLD-specific domain name, the Verisign NameStudio API Service analyzes the query and suggests relevant domain names. Domain name suggestions from NameStudio API can be presented directly to end users or combined with suggestions from other sources.

When a user chooses a domain name suggested by the Verisign NameStudio API Service, the user will follow the process that you have put in place for registering domain names.

The Verisign NameStudio API Service is generally updated on a monthly basis. The updates are posted to the “What’s New” section of the Developer Portal and are reflected in the Verisign NameStudio API Service Guide found in the Developer Portal.

The Verisign NameStudio API Service can provide domain name suggestions across a wide range of TLDs including Verisign-operated TLDs and other legacy TLDs, new gTLDs, and ccTLDs*.

The /suggest 2.0 endpoint provides suggestions in the following languages:

The /suggest 3.0 endpoint provides suggestions in the following languages:

We are continuously updating /suggest 3.0 language support and will be adding more languages as they become available.

* Verisign may provide NameStudio API’s French language support through the use of licensed data that Verisign downloads from the Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération (Afnic) at https://opendata.afnic.fr/en/products-and-services/services/opendata-en.html generally at monthly and incremental, daily intervals.

To receive an API Key, click on the “Get Started” button on www.namestudioapi.com. After successfully completing the sign-up process, you will receive access to the Developer Portal.
The Verisign Developer Portal allows you to manage your service configurations, access your API Key(s), view technical and support documentation, and check service notices. Customers are granted access to the Verisign Developer Portal after agreeing to the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy for the Verisign NameStudio API Service.

Yes, within the Developer Portal there is a feature that enables you to automatically generate up to 10 additional API Keys.

The Verisign Developer Portal contains API documentation, resources and tools to assist you with your implementation of the Verisign NameStudio API Service.

No, there is no fee to use the Verisign NameStudio API Service.
